This new Residence
overlooks a beautiful meadow and natural creek. It is nestled against a
backdrop of evergreens and forest. The Residence is intended to harmonize
with the site, using traditional massing and natural materials.
The Residence is anchored
to the earth with a lively stone base, piers, and chimneys. The walls are
clad with stained natural cedar siding and trims. Wood vertical elements,
such as the redwood, tapered porch columns, reflect the nature of the
surrounding trees. Natural slate roofing protects the building from the
weather. These various natural materials come together with a muted
earthtone color palette.
The Building program is
broken down into various components spread across the landscape. This
allowed for the many program requirements to be met, while keeping the scale
of the Residence in proportion to it’s surroundings. The site also includes
a detached garage/apartment connected by an arched Porte Cochere,
indoor pool house, auxiliary pool shed, and a tree-lined entrance drive.
The Interiors of the
Residence are of a comfortable scale and focus on the expansive natural
views of the surrounding site.
